Context in Al-Mulk (Ayah 25)

Mockers ask mata ha dha al-wa'd in kuntum sadiqin: when is this promise if you are truthful? Tafsir identifies rhetorical demand for instant signs, refusing Allah's timing.

This passage in chapter 67 answers elsewhere that knowledge of hour is with Allah alone; mockery exposes inner rejection, not sincere inquiry.

Painful punishment tied to such mockery appears in following verses when they see reality zulfatan.

Reflection on Creation

This ayah invites quiet consideration of mockery asking when the promise will arrive. Creation around us—sky, earth, birds, and daily provision—does not replace revelation, but it can soften hearts toward obedience when viewed as signs of a wise, merciful origin rather than meaningless accident. Study ayah 25 with the Arabic on this page and Saheeh International English: “And they say, When is this promise, if you should be truthful?”. In chapter 67’s sequence, this line advances the theme of mockery asking when the promise will arrive. Read ayah 24 and ayah 26 on their verse pages so you see how the argument builds—Meccan proofs about creation, accountability, and mercy are layered, not repeated as generic slogans. Family & Bedtime Practice

Explain that some things have Allah's timing only—like rain—so we prepare for akhirah daily instead of asking “when.” Write ayah 25’s number on the memorization tracker before moving to the next ayah. Write ayah 25’s number on the memorization tracker before moving to the next ayah.

Short Tafsir Note

They ask when this promise will come — as if time limits Allah. Mockery of the Hour demands sober response, not debate on dates.
